Apply For Admissions
Entrance and Placement Testing

As one of the steps to be admitted to the Southeast Technical Institute Online Business Administration degree, we require that all applicants complete either an ACT Assessment or a COMPASS Assessment.

The ACT Assessment
The ACT test assesses students' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work.  The test covers four areas:  English, math, reading, and science.  The writing section of the ACT exam is NOT required for admission to Southeast Tech.  For additional information about days, times and locations of testing centers, please refer to the ACT website.

The COMPASS Assessment
The COMPASS – Computer-Adaptive Placement, Assessment, and Support System - is a nationally recognized assessment test consisting of computer based assessments that measure three skill areas:  Reading, English, and Math.

COMPASS scores are raw scores, meaning they do not indicate the percent of questions answered correctly or the percentile ranking of the student.

If you are outside of the Sioux Falls area you may complete your COMPASS testing at any ACT Testing Center in the United States.

You can view the required scores needed to be admitted to STI here.

Preparing for the Test
Southeast Tech recommends preparing in advance for the exam.

STI offers test prep classes.  Visit our
