Laptop Program

Southeast Technical Institute was the first campus in South Dakota to initiate the use of a laptop program for its students.  Why?  Employers throughout the country expect employees to have strong computer skills from day one.  STI’s students learn these skills everyday by attending classes and using industry specific software while completing their program.

STI Laptop Included Program

Starting Fall 2009, all new students entering a laptop program will have a laptop provided from Southeast Tech. The laptop is included in tuition during your first two semesters while at STI and Financial Aid can be applied.  STI purchases nearly a thousand laptops directly from the manufacturer every year and passes the savings on to the students. In addition, laptops provided by Southeast are guaranteed to have the necessary software for all of the courses in each program area. Southeast laptops are covered by a comprehensive service arrangement which includes onsite repair and customer support for three years through the STI Helpdesk. Laptops are also available to students in non-laptop included programs through the same conditional sales agreement process.

Students will receive their laptop once they complete a Conditional Sales Agreement with STI.  Under this agreement, students will be provided all necessary software depending on the student’s program.  STI will remain the owner of the laptop throughout the time the student is at STI.  Once the student completes their program of study, a Bill of Sale will be completed and the student will retain ownership of the laptop.

Comprehensive Service Agreement

All laptops are covered under a 3-year Comprehensive Service Agreement.  A fully staffed Helpdesk is available to assist students with laptop problems, questions, or repairs.  If your STI laptop requires long-term repair, a loaner laptop will be provided.  Warranty repair covers parts and labor which is included under the STI Conditional Sales Agreement.
