iPad required programs will utilize iPads in the classroom. Apps that are required for your program will be purchased through the Southeast Tech Bookstore. Southeast Tech does not have iPads available for student purchase. Students in these programs will need to purchase an iPad prior to their scheduled JumpStart session. You will need to bring your iPad with you to JumpStart to get it set up to be used for your classes.

Southeast Tech recommends that you purchase an extended warranty and accidental damage protection for your iPad. AppleCare+ for iPad will provide this coverage and can be added to your new iPad purchase. Otherwise, you can visit www.apple.com/support/products/ipad.html to see the process for adding AppleCare+ for iPad later. This must be added within 30 days of purchase.
Laptop use for iPad required students
Some classes in the curriculum for the iPad required programs will require the use of a laptop. These classes are Multi-Disciplinary Health Team and Electronic Health Records. For these courses, students will need to have a laptop to use for class. If a student does not have a laptop and does not wish to purchase a laptop, they will be allowed to rent a laptop from Southeast Tech for the semester(s) for which a laptop is required.
Southeast Tech Virtual PC (vPC)
Students in an iPad required program will be able to use a vPC to access a Microsoft Windows environment and basic software needed for their classes on their iPads. The link to the VMware Horizon View Client app and setup instructions are located at http://vpc.southeasttech.edu.
Students in an iPad required program can receive limited support for their iPads at the Southeast Tech IT Support Center. This includes assistance with setting up and accessing vPC, connecting to the wireless network, setting up a Southeast Tech email account and troubleshooting issues with built-in apps and settings.
Eligibility to purchase a Southeast Tech laptop
All students who are currently enrolled at Southeast Tech are eligible to purchase a laptop from Southeast Tech. The specifications and pricing for the laptop available for purchase are listed below.

Purchasing your Southeast Tech Laptop
If you choose to purchase a Southeast Tech laptop, you will complete a Conditional Sales Agreement and receive your laptop during JumpStart. The full purchase price of the laptop will be added to your student account for the semester, and any excess Financial Aid a student has received will be applied to the cost of the laptop.
If a student is starting classes in the summer and wishes to purchase a Southeast Tech laptop, they will be able to rent a laptop for the summer from Southeast Tech. New laptops are unavailable for purchase for the summer term.
Southeast Tech Laptop Warranty and Support Information
Southeast Tech laptops come with a 3 year manufacturer warranty to cover parts and labor in case of manufacturer defect or mechanical failure. During the 3 year period, the IT Support Center will provide complete hardware warranty support for the original purchaser of laptops purchased through Southeast Tech, regardless of current enrollment status. Students are responsible for repair charges not covered under the manufacturer warranty.
While a student is enrolled, the IT Support Center will also provide full software support including virus and malware removal for Southeast Tech laptops. After a student graduates or terminates enrollment, limited software support is available. This includes reloading original software from the manufacturer or assisting with updated driver installations.
Loaner laptops are available free of charge for currently enrolled Southeast Tech students while their laptop is at the IT Support Center for service.
Lost or Stolen Southeast Tech Laptop
A stolen laptop is a criminal offense and must be reported to law enforcement and the Southeast Tech IT Support Center immediately. The IT Support Center will provide the serial number and model to a student whose laptop has been stolen. Students will be required to complete a theft report with the police department. The report number and police department the report was filed with must be provided to the Southeast Tech IT Support Center. Students will be responsible for any remaining payments under the Conditional Sales Agreement, and will also need to work with their instructors and the IT Support Center to ensure that they still meet the requirements of their program. Since loss and theft are not covered under the manufacturer warranty, Southeast Tech highly recommends that students insure their laptop against loss or theft, which can usually be done through a homeowner's or renter's insurance policy.
