The Hovland Learning Center is located in the Mickelson Center and offers an independent learning lab and structured classes to help meet the individuals needs of students. The Center is staffed with qualified, friendly teachers who are always willing to help.

 Eligibility Requirements

  • 18 years of age or beyond compulsory attendance age.
  • Valid Social Security Card or comparable documentation to prove eligibility to work in the US.
 Class Structure

Student Expectations

  • Initial Assessment
  • 40 – 60 hour minimum time commitment
  • Complete Study Plan
  • Post Assessment

The Hovland Learning Center is funded through the South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation. Eligible students are at least 16 years old and beyond compulsory attendance age, not enrolled in any K-12 schools and possess a valid Social Security Card. The ALC is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. We are located in room 250 of the Mickelson Center.

The Hovland Learning Center will be closed the following dates for the 2015-16 school year:

November 11 and 23 - 28

December 21 - 31

January 1 - 9

February 13 and 15

March 7 - 12, 26 and 28

May 30 - 31

June 1 - 4
