General Education Development (GED) Preparation
The complete GED is divided into five sub tests: Language Arts–Writing, Social Studies, Science, Language Arts–Reading and Mathematics. GED participants interested in enrolling in a GED preparation program must attend a scheduled orientation session. Orientation is offered on Tuesday evenings beginning at 4:15 pm and ending at 8:00 pm. Students must attend the entire orientation session.
OFFICIAL GED TESTING
Thursday, May 2. Registration is Wednesday, May 1 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am.
Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11. Registration for both dates is Thursday, May 9 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am.
Tuesday, May 21 and Wednesday, May 22. Registration for both dates is Monday, May 20 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am.
*Students must present a government issued photo ID with birth date each time they register as well as each time they take an official GED test. A cash payment of $20.00 (one time only registration fee payable at initial sign up) and $18.00 per subject area are due at registration.
New GED Test to be Released in 2014
On January 1, 2014, a new GED (General Educational Development) test will be released. The current version of the GED test expires December 31, 2013. All scores will expire if you have not taken and have not passed the tests by December 31, 2013. If you have taken one or more of the five required tests or want to begin the registration process, you need to contact the Hovland Learning Center immediately at (605)367-7997
. Also, if you have taken any or all of the tests since January 1, 2002, and have not earned your certificate, contact the Hovland Learning Center immediately. State requirements have changed, so some or all of the previous test scores may now apply towards earning the GED
