Do you strive to work in a bank or other financial institution? At Southeast Tech, get to where you want to be in just two years with a Financial Services degree with an emphasis in Banking. As a banking and financial services professional, opportunities are booming. You’ll have the opportunity to sell and service numerous financial products including both commercial and personal accounts. This industry supports small locally owned banks in rural areas to massive conglomerates in the most urbane locations. Strong sales and interpersonal communication skills are essential for this career field.

At Southeast Tech, you can choose to complete your Financial Services degree with an emphasis in Banking in one of two ways. Take it entirely online or traditional classroom style with Fridays off!

Dana has 30+ years of professional experience that includes banking, mortgage, investments, accounting, and post-secondary education.

She has taught at the secondary and post-secondary level and holds a secondary credential as well as a post-secondary credential. As an educator, Dana has taught many financial services and business courses including: Accounting, Personal Finance, Principles of Investments, Bank Management, Fundamentals of Insurance, Internships, and Human Resource Management.

She continues her professional educational membership by serving as the Region 5 President for the American Technical Education Association and is an active member of the National Business Education Association.
Regarding her teaching philosophy, Dana believes that learning never ends and that it is a teacher’s role to facilitate the learning and success of their students. She personalizes education with real world experiences and projects.

Dana’s interest include reading, golfing, and spending time at the lake.

Karen is the Lab Specialist for the Business and CIS APPS classes and also the Keyboarding Instructor. She assists the BUS & CIS full time and adjunct instructors, presenting as a substitute instructor when needed.

Karen works with students in lab classrooms, planning student events within the program, and organizing and managing the Southeast Tech Value Card.

She is an active volunteer in her home town in Iowa.

Dennis has been teaching at Southeast Tech since 1995. He holds a Life & Health Insurance license and maintains his professional skills by continuing part-time employment as an Indirect Senior Loan Officer at First Premier Bank.

He has accrued extensive banking industry and leadership experience, having:
• Over 25 years of banking experience that includes being a branch manager, indirect loan officer, personal banking officer, collection representative, and customer service representative
• Over 10 years as a financial services instructor
• Served over 23 years in Army National Guard, held positions of Battalion Operations Officer, Battery Commander, Executive Officer, and Fire Direction Officer
• Served the community by volunteering for the United Way, Adopt-A-Highway, Banquet, and other events

Through the military, he completed the Command & General Staff course, Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, and Officer Candidate School.

Dennis has been awarded outstanding service awards in the Army National Guard. Included in this involved a weapons conversation from the M109A1 Howitzer to the Multiple Launch Rocket System, a mobilization to support Operation Enduring Freedom, and multiple unit certifications, inspections, and other military requirements.

Dennis's interests include jogging, bowling and spending time with his family.
