Mylynn has been a nurse for over thirty years, with experience in Medical-Surgical, Orthopedics, Intensive Care, Surgery, Post Anesthesia Care, Cardiology, and nursing administration as a Director of Nursing.

She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the Golden Key International Honour Society. She also holds certifications in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support, as well as, a previous Basic Life Support instructor.

During her time in nursing administration Mylynn participated and trained in disaster preparation, attended disaster preparation conferences, and participated in many disaster drills.  

Mylynn’s passion has always been to educate others; from students in the hospital setting, to her peers, and as a formal preceptor to new staff. This is what prompted her to return to school for her master’s degree so she could start teaching students choosing a career in healthcare. Her goal is to help the student see how wonderful a career in healthcare can be and how satisfying it is to help others in need.  

As an educator, Mylynn believes that students learn in different ways. She feels it is important to assess the needs of the student and focus the education in a way that fits their learning style. Mylynn learns something new every day and believes individuals should never stop learning. She hopes to instill that message in her students that they should never stop learning and go after their career goals no matter what age. She also likes to challenge herself, therefore, that is another reason why she returned to school to earn her master’s degree in nursing.

Education: Mylynn received a Diploma of Nursing from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa before pursuing her Bachelor of Nursing and Master of Nursing with Education specialty from Walden University.

Sherri Hoss began teaching health core at Southeast Tech in 2010. Since then she has added roles such as advising the healthcare leadership students and coordinating the certified nursing assistant classes. In the past, Sherri has worked as a nurse in long term care in many different roles. She was Director of Nursing (DNS) for five years with 100 plus employees to supervise and manage. Her long term care center had 94 beds and included a rehabilitation unit, Alzheimer's unit and general long term care. Prior to working as DNS, She was a case manager and a charge nurse. 

She has really enjoyed working with the different health care disciplines. Just because a person is interested in healthcare doesn't mean they just have to be a nurse as each healthcare discipline takes on its own unique role. Sherri believes it takes a highly diversified, skilled team to effectively care for each individual patient.

She is currently working on her doctoral degree from University of South Dakota in Educational Administration in Higher Education.  She is passionate about the various aspects of healthcare and leadership.  She truly enjoys mentoring students as they devise their own personal educational journey.  

Lifelong learning isn't for everyone, but she wants students to have the ability to continue their education if life leads them in that direction. Sherri enjoys teaching online, traditional and hybrid classes. She believes students should collaborate and work together in the learning process. She uses dynamic interactive lectures and group activities to involve students. Learning doesn’t have to be mundane or boring as education can most definitely be entertaining and engaging.
