Jenny Martinsen

Jenny Martinsen is an instructor in the Surgical Technology program at Southeast Technical College. With more than 20 years of experience in the operating room, she has developed a deep appreciation for the surgical profession and the teamwork, precision, communication and commitment to patient safety that it requires.

Jenny believes that the best learning comes from experience, mentorship, and having instructors who genuinely care about their students and their success. She shares with students not only what she learned throughout her career, but the passion, work ethic and real-world perspective that shaped her along the way.

"My goal is to help students become knowledgeable, confident, compassionate and dependable surgical technologists—and inspire them to love this profession as much as I do," she said.

Outside of her career, Jenny's greatest accomplishment and source of pride is her family. She has  been married to her husband, Tate, for 17 years, and they have two children: Emma and Gavin, as well as a few very energetic red dogs—Vizslas—who keeps the family on their toes and are always ready for the next adventure.
