Two Southeast Technical College instructors in the Land Surveying Science program were recognized by their industry at the South Dakota Society of Professional Land Surveyors (SDSPLS) annual conference Jan. 11-13 in Sioux Falls.

'Land Surveyor of the Year:' Longtime Land Surveying instructor Rod Breitling was awarded the prestigious “Land Surveyor of the Year” award for his many years of service to land surveying education, both at STC and through the SDSPLS.

'Outstanding Contribution to the Land Surveying Profession:' Chad Martinson, an adjunct instructor, received the award for “Outstanding Contribution to the Land Surveying Profession,” for stepping up to teach two classes in the Land Surveying program.

Also at the conference, students and faculty sat down with Tim Bruch, host of "Surveyor Says!," a podcast produced by the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) to discuss how STC's program is geared to prepare the students for the "future of surveying" first hand through the curriculum and internships.
