On Nov. 15, Southeast Technical College hosted a Boy Scouts Merit Badge Camp event at The HUB and around campus. Around 200 Boy Scouts from at least 22 towns—from Groton to Brookings—participated and had opportunities to earn 24 unique merit badges. Some families traveled long distances to take part in the event, but the scouts said that it is their favorite event outside of summer camp.

During the opening session, the Boy Scouts donated non-perishable foods to the Campus Cupboard and then participated in an event in the auditorium. For the rest of the day, they had breakout groups around campus and could choose from a wide variety of events aligned with their interests and which merit badges they wanted to earn.
