Release of information

As a student, you may provide others, including parents, spouse, employer and third-party payers, the ability view your online student account information. This information may include the following: financial records, including Financial Aid awards; student academic records, including grades; and student housing information if the student resides on campus.

Follow these directions to provide others permission:

  1. Log in to your myTech account at my.southeasttech.edu.
  2. Click on the “Student” tab.
  3. Click on “Academic Information” on the left-hand side of the screen, and then click “Release of Information Permissions.”
  4. Provide the name and relationship of the person receiving permissions (you must provide an email address for this person).
  5. Choose the information this person may view.
  6. If granting permission for more than one person, you will need to submit a separate form for each person.

Once the form is received and processed, the person you have granted permission will receive an email with a username, a password and a link with instructions for accessing your student record. As the student, you may revoke the right of previously granted permissions for people at any time by completing a “Revoke Release of Information Permissions” form, located on myTech. Find it by clicking on the “Student” tab, “Academic Information” and then “Release of Information Permissions.” Note: All student holds will be visible.

Credit by exam

You may wish to "test out" of a specific course, rather than enroll in the course, to save time and money. Ideally, test outs will be completed prior to registration; however, STC accepts scores up until your graduation date. Deadlines for each semester's test outs can be found on the Academic Calendar.

Technology Requirements

As an STC student, you are required to use a laptop computer for courses. Students in Laptop Included programs -- these are programs that require the use of a high-end laptop purchased through STC -- will have their laptops reserved for them when they register for classes. Students in Bring Your Own Laptop (BYOL) programs will have the option to purchase through Southeast Tech. If you have laptop computer questions, contact the STC Information Technology Support Desk at support@southeasttech.edu

Attendance Policy

You are expected to attend all sessions of courses for which you are enrolled. Absences do not excuse you from meeting course requirements. Instructors will provide course attendance and make-up policies on their syllabi or in program handbooks. Students who do not attend class the first week of a term will be considered a “No-Show.”

Refund policy

Tuition refunds are processed according to Southeast Technical College’s Refund Policy. Refund eligibility is determined by three dates: class start date, class end date and the date a student formally drops or withdraws from a class. Class start dates and class end dates are published by the Registrar’s Office and appear on your course schedule.

Transfer Students

If you are a transfer student or took any college-level classes (e.g., dual credit, concurrent or PSSO), you will need to have your official college transcripts sent to STC as soon as possible. If you have questions, email registrar@southeasttech.edu.

  • Southeast Tech will accept credits from any post-secondary college accredited by one of the major regional accrediting associations. Acceptance of transfer credits is contingent upon students having completed a course or courses with a grade of “C” or better, and, that in the judgment of the Registrar, the course credit and content is similar to that contained in the Southeast Tech course for which advanced standing by transfer is being requested.
  • Students that don't provide transcripts prior to their first semester at Southeast Tech may find themselves taking and paying for courses that could have been transferred and may experience delays in program completion. Students who remain in a course that would have transferred beyond the drop period will be required to pay for the course.
