Southeast Tech Reports Strong Enrollment for Fall 2018
Southeast Tech officials announced strong enrollment numbers for fall 2018 with 2,268 total students taking more than 27,740 credit hours.
The fall 2018 report, delivered earlier this week, outlines an overall enrollment total that is up 3 percent over 2015, up 5 percent over 2016 and is relatively flat with 2017 numbers.
In addition, the report features a number of programs that saw significant enrollment growth over 2017, including:
- Medical Coding (up 48 percent)
- Turf Management (up 44 percent)
- Early Childhood (up 31 percent)
- Accounting (up 29 percent)
- LPN (up 25 percent)
- Surgical Technology (up 23 percent)
- Auto Technology (up 19 percent)
Southeast Tech also saw an increase in a series of new programs developed in direct collaboration with local industry, including apprenticeships for dental assisting, carpentry and plumbing and a construction pre-apprenticeship program, all of which provide 38 students a professional pathway. Because these programs are non-credit bearing, they are not included in total enrollment numbers.
"As we celebrate our 50th anniversary in Sioux Falls, our fall 2018 enrollment report continues to illustrate the important place Southeast Tech holds in serving the workforce needs of the city and our region," said Southeast Tech President Bob Griggs. "We're grateful for the opportunity to develop academic programs in collaboration with our industry partners that create meaningful careers for our students while serving the needs of the community we call home."
