Southeast Tech students and staff recently participated in Rake the Town - a city-wide community service event that serves individuals within the Sioux Falls city limits over the age of 60 who want to remain independent in their own home but need a little extra help with chores.

Twenty Southeast Tech employees and 44 Southeast Tech students assisted raked seven homes in six hours. The group filled 300 bags of leaves and brush and took two heaping loads of yard waste to the dump.

Overall, the two-day event engaged over 1,000 volunteers to rake the yards of 360 elderly and disabled homeowners in the Sioux Falls area.

The Sioux Falls community also benefits from the beautification of the neighborhood and the volunteers benefit from the rewarding experience of working together to help those in need.
