Each year, the cumulation of Digital Media Production Technology and Media Design Technology students’ work at Southeast Tech is featured at the annual Portfolio Show, attended by local and regional industry professionals, as well as students and faculty. The show includes exhibits of graphic design, print production, web design, video and animation.

“The portfolio show is an event that is always well-attended,” said Rick Warkenthien, a Media Design instructor at Southeast Tech. “It is a great opportunity for us to promote the talents of our students, bring awareness to employers, and provide students with the chance to network and gain valuable connections within the industry.”

However, due to Covid-19, the 2020 Portfolio Show was adapted to an entirely online format. In addition to creating a website, each student created a virtual 3-D design gallery.

“The online virtual tours our students have created will actually be the first time that the community — including the media industry and students inquiring about the media field of study at Southeast Tech - will be able to view our students’ work year-round, outside of their personal websites,” said Tony Conrad, Media Design instructor. “I'm very proud of the way our students were able to see the bigger picture regarding their portfolios and the Portfolio Show.”

Digital Media Production instructor Nick Schneider echoed similar sentiments.

“The students did a fabulous job adapting to this year's unique situations. They rose to the challenge of producing a variety of pieces to show off their skills. I could not be more proud of how this group of Media Design and Digital Media Production students worked together with their instructors and were able to bring this year's show to the community in an unprecedented way.”
