Early Childhood Students Attend WOW Conference

Event in Downtown Sioux Falls Co-Chaired by Scarbrough Center Staff

Early Childhood Students on stage at Washington PavilionTwenty-three Early Childhood students were down at the Washington Pavilion last weekend attending Sioux Falls WOW, a 6-hour conference on childhood development.

The event, co-chaired by Tami Skorczewski, program supervisor at the Scarbrough Center, and Robin Sjogren, program coordinator, Scarbrough Center, was attended by approximately 400 area early childhood professionals. Keynote speaker was nationally recognized Dr. Mike Longoira, who spoke on “Music, Movement & Learning: Bringing Joy to Education.”

 Southeast Tech also had a vendor booth at the event, and three of the Early Childhood’s fourth-semester students presented poster sessions on the following topics: “Covid and the Impacts on Children,” “Gender Identy,” and “Parenting Styles Influence Development.”

The STC Early Childhood program was an event sponsor, and 13 teachers and employees from the Scarbrough Center were also in attendance.
