STC Students Claim Awards at State Skills USA

Competition Held in Rapid City in April

Seven Southeast Technical College students were award winners at the 2022 State Skills USA competition, held in Rapid City in April. Four of the seven winners received the Gold Award and are invited to compete in the National Skills USA competition in Atlanta, June 20-24, 2022. Winners from the state competition are:

Gold Award

  • Mechatronics: Ethan McEachran and Trever Harrington
  • Electronics: Merritt Hillman
  • Electrical Construction Wiring:  Hannah Fink

Silver Award

  • Auto Body Collision: Parker Jones
  • Auto Body Refinish: Alexandar Asmus

Bronze Award

  • Auto Body Refinish: Tyren Ulmer

Total, there were 14 students from Southeast Tech that competed in six different contests, including Mechatronics, Electronics, Electrical Construction Wiring, Automotive Technology, Auto Body Collision and Auto Body Refinish.

The state Skills USA competition hosted 50 contests with 200 competitors.

Southeast Technical College also had two teams compete in the Skills USA Quiz Bowl contest. One of the teams, made up of five students, is also eligible to compete in the national contest in Atlanta.
