Southeast Tech Launches Mobile ID
Credential Grants Access to Buildings, Printers, On-Campus Purchases
Southeast Technical College is launching Mobile ID – a digital identification that works like a physical ID card but lives on a smart device, allowing for easier access and an improved user experience.
Students, faculty and staff will utilize Mobile ID to access campus buildings, release printing jobs, make purchases at The Grille, and more. STC’s Mobile ID can be added to Apple Wallet or Google Pay and accessed with an iPhone, Apple Watch or Android phone.
The move from physical cards to a contactless Mobile ID allows safe, convenient and highly secure transactions and helps students avoid touching the readers or handing their ID cards to someone else. Southeast Tech can also issue IDs remotely without seeing students in-person or printing and mailing physical cards, creating a safer, more cost-effective and more environmentally friendly process.
“It is exciting to offer our campus community new technology and innovation while streamlining processes and maximizing convenience,” said Gerard Stouth, Director of I.T. Infrastructure and Support at STC.
To set up Mobile ID, students and staff need to download the eAccounts app, authenticate with their STC credentials and add their Mobile ID to Apple Wallet or Google Pay.
