Dr. Cory Clasemann Named Next Southeast Technical College President

Dr. Cory Clasemann has been named the new president of Southeast Technical College. He will start mid-July 2024.

After a national search and selection process, Dr. Cory Clasemann has been selected to lead Southeast Technical College (STC) into the future as president. Dr. Clasemann brings with him an impressive educational background, having earned his B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication from Creighton University, his M.A. in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix, and his Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Indiana University. Most recently he spent over nine years at Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis, IN as Vice President for Student Success.

Throughout Dr. Clasemann’s 25-year career in higher education, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing workforce preparedness, implementing academic programs and review processes, advocating for underrepresented and first-generation college students, and fostering partnerships with industry and local organizations and churches to support students pursuing their professional and educational goals. He values diversity and inclusion and has worked tirelessly to remove barriers to increase student access and learning opportunities.

This is an exciting time for STC, and it will be a privilege to work collaboratively with the many talented faculty, staff, and other stakeholders as we support students in accomplishing their educational and professional goals,” says Clasemann.

As a prestigious Aspen Rising Presidential Fellowship cohort member, Dr. Clasemann has pursued training and professional development to prepare him to lead a college like Southeast Technical College. The Board looks forward to Clasemann’s collaborative and data-driven skillset.

STC is well-positioned for future growth thanks to the tremendous contributions of Dr. Robert Griggs, who was hired as the President of Southeast Technical College in 2016 and announced is resignation in March. Dr. Griggs was instrumental in developing new programs, expanding facilities, increasing enrollment and retention, and enhancing and growing collaborations during his tenure. The Board is grateful for his leadership and his positive impact on the college for the past eight years. 

Dr. Cory Clasemann will be welcomed to Sioux Falls and Southeast Technical College mid-July.
