Talent Draft Day Recruits High School Students to High-Demand Careers
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The Sioux Falls Development Foundation helped area high school students discover the possibilities in career areas such as health care, construction, transportation and computer sciences with Talent Draft Day, which took place this Friday at Southeast Technical College.
From 2001 to 2027 the Sioux Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area is expected to need more than 10,000 additional health-care practitioners, according to EMSI data. Other occupations such as construction, transportation, and computer sciences are predicted to experience high demand for skilled labor in the years to come.
Nearly 250 students from Sioux Falls, Brandon, and Chester High Schools spent the morning on STC’s campus. Students will took part in sessions to learn about career paths like healthcare, automotive, plumbing, electrician, HVAC, and more. Afterwards, they had the chance to network with Sioux Falls employers in their desired career path.
