Southeast Technical College Employees Honored with Statewide Awards

Two Southeast Technical College employees have been recognized for their exceptional contributions to career and technical education in South Dakota.
Ben Ringling, Horticulture instructor at STC, received the prestigious Friend of CTE Award, nominated by Harrisburg’s Apprenticeship Program. Ringling was honored for his instrumental role in expanding horticulture education and developing apprenticeship pathways that help students gain real-world skills in the green industry. His leadership has not only supported economic growth but also promoted environmental stewardship.
Dr. Sara Vande Kamp, Director of the Eastern South Dakota Perkins Consortium and a member of the Harrisburg School Board, was named the SDACTE Postsecondary Professional of the Year. Widely respected for her focus on partnerships and forward-thinking vision, Dr. Vande Kamp has been a driving force in creating collaborative opportunities between high schools, post-secondary institutions, and industry. Her work in promoting career and technical education is creating lasting impact across the region.
