Southeast Technical College Spring 2025 Enrollment up 4%
Retention Rate Holds Steady
Spring enrollment at Southeast Technical College is up 4% in student headcount and 5% in credits compared to spring 2024, which was the highest spring enrollment in over a decade. STC is serving 2,569 students this spring. Unduplicated headcount this academic year for fall and spring semesters is 3,186 students with more starting the summer 2025 term on May 19.
The new enrollment numbers also reflect increasing diversity on campus and a steady retention rate of 80%. Additionally, 27% of students on campus are older than 24, reflecting a changing demographic in technical education.
“Sioux Falls is growing, and Southeast Technical College is growing with it,” said STC President Cory Clasemann. “We are committed, as always, to providing our students career-focused education that aligns with the evolving needs of area employers.”
Scholarships at Southeast Tech provide additional opportunities for students. In the past year, STC increased the number of programs eligible for the full-ride Build Dakota scholarship with the inclusion of Early Childhood and Medical Assisting programs. Other program-specific and need- and merit-based scholarships are available as well.
“These new opportunities are a direct reflection of feedback we hear from industry,” said Megan Fischer, STC Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs. “Area business are constantly asking for more graduates, so we want students to be able to get that degree and get to work.”
STC is currently accepting scholarship applications for the 2025-26 academic year. The deadline to apply for a scholarship is March 31. Learn more at www.southeasttech.edu/scholarships.
