Mission
The goal of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is to provide the necessary educational and clinical experience foundations to prepare competent entry-level general sonographers in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills) and affective (behavior) learning domains. Graduates of the program will be expected to be successfully credentialed through the ARDMS and possess the ability to perform high quality diagnostic sonography examinations and procedures, understand the anatomy and pathophysiology related to structures examined, deliver appropriate patient care, exercise suitable ethical, moral, and legal judgment within the healthcare environment, and participate in quality assurance and continuing education.
Program Goals and Outcomes
To prepare diagnostic medical sonographers who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
- Cognitive Domain: To assess the overall knowledge base of program graduates.
- Psychomotor Domain: To assess the overall clinical performance (proficiency) of program guidelines.
- Affective Domain: To assess the overall interpersonal communication skills of program graduates.
