Southeast Technical College's Technical Studies: Pathway to Radiologic Technology is designed for students who want to become radiologic technologists and need to complete prerequisite and general education coursework before applying to a radiologic technology program.
Students complete approximately 30 credits of foundational science, healthcare and general education coursework at Southeast Tech. After completing the pathway coursework, students must separately apply and be accepted to a radiologic technology program to continue their professional and clinical education.
Important Program Information
Southeast Technical College does not offer a Radiologic Technology program or provide the professional or clinical training required to become a radiologic technologist.
Completing the Technical Studies: Pathway to Radiologic Technology coursework at Southeast Tech does not guarantee admission to a radiologic technology program. Admission is a separate and competitive process, and each radiologic technology program establishes its own admission requirements, prerequisites, standards and selection criteria.
The Southeast Tech pathway provides coursework designed to help students prepare for the next step toward a career in radiologic technology. Students should work closely with their Southeast Tech advisor and review the specific admission and prerequisite requirements of the radiologic technology program they plan to pursue.
Students who are accepted into an eligible radiologic technology program may continue working toward completion of Southeast Tech's Associate of Applied Science in Technical Studies in accordance with Southeast Tech degree requirements.

- Sanford Radiography Program – Sioux Falls, South Dakota
What Is a Radiologic Technologist?
Radiologic technologists, sometimes called X-ray technologists or radiographers, perform diagnostic imaging procedures that help physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. They work directly with patients and use specialized imaging equipment in hospitals, clinics and healthcare facilities.
A career in radiologic technology combines patient care, healthcare technology, anatomy and physiology and diagnostic imaging.

Complete Coursework at Southeast Tech
Students complete 32 credits of coursework that provide the academic foundation needed for success in radiologic technology education and healthcare careers.

Apply to a Hospital-Based Radiologic Technology Program
After completing pathway requirements, students may apply to a participating radiologic technology program, such as the Avera McKennan School of Radiologic Technology.
Admission requirements, application deadlines, interviews, selection criteria and enrollment decisions are determined entirely by the hospital-affiliated program. Completion of Southeast Tech coursework does not guarantee admission.

Complete Professional Radiologic Technology Training
Students accepted into a radiologic technology program complete clinical education and advanced imaging coursework through the hospital-based program. These programs prepare graduates for professional credentialing and careers in medical imaging.

Earn Your Associate Degree
Through STC's articulation agreement, qualifying credits earned through the radiologic technology program may be transferred toward an Associate of Applied Science in Technical Studies from Southeast Technical College.
The credential earned from Southeast Tech is an AAS in Technical Studies. Students do not earn a Radiologic Technology credential from STC. Professional radiologic technology education and any related certification eligibility come through the hospital-based radiologic technology program.
Cost
Costs are calculated based on a charge of $282 per credit hour, plus applicable fees.
