Surgical Technology Program Purchases New Simulator

Southeast Technical College recently purchased a new simulator for its Surgical Technology program, and instructors are itching for students to get their hands on it.

“LapSim by Surgical Science is an amazing educational device,” said Ruby Castardo, Surgical Technology Program Director. “I’m sure our students are going to love all of the hands-on learning, and it is going to make the surgical part of this and visualizations so much better.”

The simulator will allow students to experience the realities of the operating room while performing simulated surgical procedures in general surgery, OB/GYN, genitourinary and thoracic areas of care.

Each module includes activities where students identify relative anatomy and laparoscopic instrumentation, as well as complete basic to advanced exercises to master fundamental laparoscopic skills.

Students receive real-time feedback for instant learning.
