Recruitment, Campus Visit Events in Full Swing

STC Hosts 2,500 Middle School and High School Students

This spring, campus has been buzzing with activity. By the semester’s end, approximately 2,500 middle school and high school students will have gotten a first-hand look at STC’s programs, labs and facilities through STC-sponsored recruitment events and events hosted on campus.

  • Women in Science was held in The HUB on March 6. Nearly 1,000 eighth-grade girls from area middle schools participated in hands-on STEM activities and viewed STEM related career presentations.
  • Nearly 400 eighth graders from Whittier and McGovern Middle Schools were on campus March 4-7 to take part in hands-on activities sponsored by industry partners Avera Health, Midwest Mechanical, Natural Beauty and Sanford Health. They also got to hear from an STC student panel.
  • On Talent Draft Day, held March 22, the Sioux Falls Development Foundation facilitated speed networking, a Young Professionals Network panel and presentations from STC academic programs to nearly 250 students.

Up next:

  • Sophomore Planning Day Visits are scheduled for April 2-5 for Sioux Falls School District Students. More than 600 are expected to attend presentations, activities and demonstrations from STC academic programs.
  • Brandon Valley High School Sophomore Tours take place April 11-12 and 350 BVHS sophomores will attend presentations, participate in hands-on activities and see demonstrations from STC academic programs.
