The Electrician program at Southeast Technical College prepares you for a hands-on career in one of today’s most essential skilled trades. Electricians install, maintain and repair electrical systems that power homes, businesses and industrial facilities.

Learn Electrical Skills Employers Expect

As an Electrician student, you gain a strong foundation in electrical theory while developing practical skills used in real-world environments. Training focuses on safety, accuracy and efficiency so you are prepared for the demands of the trade.

Your hands-on coursework prepares you to:

  • Install and maintain electrical wiring and systems
  • Read and interpret blueprints and electrical diagrams
  • Apply the National Electrical Code
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical components
  • Work safely with tools, meters and testing equipment

Train in Real-World Lab Environments

Electrician classes at Southeast Tech are taught in the Ed Wood Trade and Industry Center using industry-standard tools and equipment. Students spend significant time applying what they learn through hands-on projects that mirror real jobsite scenarios.

Accelerate Your Path Through Apprenticeship Credit

Upon completion of the two-year program, students receive 2,000 hours toward certification and placement in the third year of the Electrician’s apprenticeship program. 

Southeast Tech’s strong relationships and industry partnerships support a smooth transition from education to employment. Students enter the workforce with momentum and begin building experience immediately after graduation.

Build Technical and Problem-Solving Confidence

Electricians must think critically and respond quickly when systems fail or plans change. Throughout the program, students develop problem-solving skills by diagnosing electrical issues, adapting to different environments and working through challenges as part of a team.
