Understand the Difference Between an LPN and RN Career
Both Licensed Practical Nurses and Registered Nurses play critical roles in patient care, but their responsibilities differ in scope and complexity.
Licensed Practical Nurses provide direct patient care under the supervision of Registered Nurses and physicians. LPN responsibilities include monitoring patient health, administering medications and supporting daily nursing functions.
Registered Nurses take on broader responsibilities that include developing treatment plans, administering medications and coordinating comprehensive patient care. RNs often supervise other healthcare staff and play a larger role in clinical decision-making.
Southeast Tech also offers an LPN-to-RN pathway that allows experienced LPNs to continue their education and advance into Registered Nursing careers.
